Advantages of Virtual Assistants in India

Indian virtual assistants are professional, kind, and well-educated.

India, although being a developing country, has various sophisticated technology hubs and has more English speakers than the United States.

The infrastructure for business process outsourcing (BPO) is extensive, and most virtual assistant India work in these offices. In contrast, in the Philippines, where these businesses exist but many more VAs work from home, this is not the case.

The lower cost of recruiting in India compared to the United States or Europe is what attracts the majority of clients.

India also has the distinct advantage of being able to staff around the clock due to time zone variations (typically roughly a 12 hour difference from the US). It's a great feeling to know that you're getting it done while you sleep!

However, despite — or perhaps because of — the popularity and long history of outsourcing to India, there are distinct “flavours” and specialties based on your demands.

Drawbacks to Hiring Virtual Assistants in India

To be honest, a lot of these companies sell nearly identical products at nearly same prices, to the point where I can't tell them different.

The language barrier is the most common criticism I hear about hiring Indian virtual assistants.

Even while English is widely spoken, it is most likely not the same as the English that you and I speak. This can lead to misunderstandings and difficulties when it comes to allocating work.

I've found that having a very defined process and instructions to plug someone into produces the best results. You want to give your assistant the best opportunity at succeeding and make it as simple as possible for them to seek clarification from you.

The time zone difference could be a problem as well. I've had several late-night team meeting to interact with them during their shift!

The importance of good communication cannot be overstated. To explain the approach and what I'd like to accomplish, I use a lot of screen-capture clips.

How Much Do Virtual Assistants in India Cost?

You'll find a range of fees among the companies represented on virtual assistant services usually between $5 and $15 per hour.

Those are certainly very reasonable costs when compared to hiring a virtual assistant in the United States.

Here's what you'll find in general:

  • You'll pay more if the VA firm is chasing a larger client. These are cutting-edge business processing outsourcing firms that work with Fortune 500 companies.

  • You'll pay less if the company is newer. Companies frequently set low prices in order to attract new clients and establish a client base.

  • You'll pay less if you work more hours (or hire more people).

If you need a full-time personal virtual assistant, for example, your effective hourly charge will be significantly lower than if you only require somebody for 20 hours per month.

So because company now knows that person's salary is "spoken for," they won't have to find many clients to keep them busy and meet their fixed expenditures.
